Ben Foster Joining Rachel Weisz in Fernando Meirelles Film '360

Ben Foster Joining Rachel Weisz in Fernando Meirelles Film '360

Last year we found out that the lovely Rachel Weisz would re-team with The Constant Gardener director Fernando Meirelles for 360, a drama from writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen). Based on the 1900 play Reigen (a work that has inspired countless plays and films), the film scrutinizes the sexual morals and class ideology of its day through a series of encounters between pairs of people before & after a "sexual encounter." Deadline reports Ben Foster (The Messenger) is negotiating to join Weisz in this story where characters across all levels of society will show how sexual contact transgresses boundaries of social class.

Anthony Hopkins also stars in the BBC Films project, but no distributor has been found yet. The aforementioned play that inspired this film consisted of ten interlocking scenes between pairs of lovers, each of its ten characters appeared in two consecutive scenes with one from the final scene, having appeared in the first. It's not clear if the film intends to have so many characters, so it unclear how much more casting needs to be done. For now though, this cast is intriguing enough to have my attention. Ben Foster's talent should really be utilized a bit more, and its his name that actually has me curious to see how The Mechanic turns out when it comes out later this month. Stay tuned as this project develops.
