Sound Off: Michel Gondry's 'The Green Hornet' - Your Thoughts?
Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Hitting theaters in earth-shattering 3D this weekend is Seth Rogen's new take on the classic hero The Green Hornet, directed by Michel Gondry and starring Seth Rogen as Britt Reid and Jay Chou as his sidekick Kato. When we first wrote about this years ago, not many believed Rogen could pull off a pulp hero like this, and yet here away, kickin' off the weekend with the Green Hornet and his Black Beauty. So how is it? Is it actually good or is it as bad as you thought? How are Rogen and Chou? If you've seen it leave a comment and let us know what you thought of The Green Hornet!
To fuel the fire, I saw The Green Hornet a couple of weeks ago and sadly, I did not like The Green Hornet... much... at all. I just thought it was too stupid, almost beyond stupid sometimes, and just overly goofy when it didn't need to be. It was all over the place and the story was completely terrible B-movie grade stuff. But, I will admit, there were some fun moments and it is entertaining - but that's about it. The Kato-Vision fight scene early on, which was mostly Gondry's visual concept, was frickin' awesome, just a very impressive way to visualize that fighting style. I didn't see it in 3D, so I can't comment on that side, but I'm not going to give this movie much more credit than saying it was fun and Gondry is visually, at least, still a great filmmaker.
